| PRIVATE INSTRUCTION We offer private in-vehicle instruction for which an hourly rate is charged. Individuals are picked up from and returned to home, school or work as part of this service. Payment is expected the day of the lesson. We do not offer a discount if multiple lessons are booked. For those who are preparing for a road test, we strongly suggest booking a two-hour block of lesson time in order to travel to larger cities. This will enable our instructors to simulate the type of test being prepared for. Clients who wish to have instruction in a car with a manual (standard) transmission may call Gord's Driving School to set up such an appointment. Please note that our vehicles are equipped with automatic transmission; as such, clients will be required to provide their own vehicle for "standard" lessons. Some clients may be required to take a lesson in one of our vehicles first, so that s/he may be evaluated on overall driving skill. Please call Gord's to discuss your situation with a member of our staff. Clients are free to decide how many lessons they feel they need and can expect honest feedback from our instructors concerning how much instruction is necessary. New drivers may want to consider taking the entire Beginner Driver Education Course (which includes 10 hours of private instruction) rather than a series of driving lessons. Not only will this increase skill and confidence on the road, but students will then be eligible for a reduction in insurance premiums. Private driving lessons without the course will certainly hone driving skills, but will not allow a driver to receive a break on insurance.
